We were up by 8, finished packing, had breakfast on our balcony, then said good-bye to Diana and her B&B.  We managed the ten minute trudge to the ferry stop (my luggage wheels really don't have much left in them!) and we were on the hydrofoil ferry at 9:15.  We found the bus stop for the Milazzo train station, and made some friends on the bus … a mother and daughter from Holland, and a couple from Australia who we recognized from ...

... We had a bite to eat here and continued down the rest of the way on foot. It was a bit difficult to walk on the lava which varied in size and slipperiness! We did well however and had it all polished of in another hour or so. Back down at the bikes we were getting ready to head off when a German came and asked where we were off to. ... eggs and potent local cheeses. Sadly Monday is Maria's day off from cooking so we miss a third night of delights. A local pizza with the last of our wine with Maria is still a pleasure though. I encourage Maria to write a book of her move to the country, her simple, delicious recipes and rationale for sourcing local, seasonal produce. May happen.
