... pleasant town of São João da Pesqueira. St John the fisherman. After some looking we found the campground near the firestation. Why were we here?! Because Everett had via Twitter arrange for a port/wine tour at Vinoquel one of 100 port makers in the world. We were the only campers in the place and enjoyed strolling through the sleepy town and an early night.     

... the train station where a group of taxi drivers were variously offering us a lift to Lamego, decrying the parlous state of the bus service and scratching their nether regions. Fortunately for us (Virg) a little flirting goes a long way and pretty soon a jolly fellow from the tourist party made it his mission in life to find out where and when our bus left from (a random place in the road outside the train station apparently).

I tell you, I am so full of good ideas. Although the walk from Campanha Station to the centre of town took us more than half an hour (compared to a 3 minute walk from Sao Bento), we completely avoided that hill! On the 18th of September I left Porto to cycle to a little village called Pedra Vedra, between Amarante and Villa Real. ... are grown and made into Port. We followed the Douro river upstream to Regua where we transferred to another train, this one a narrow gauge line that followed the Corgo river upstream. And it seems also that almost everywhere you can eat reasonably good food, even if it is the cold liver sandwich I got for lunch one day because it was cheap (and it was good, believe me). Zobudili sme sa okolo 9:00 a po horucom Portugalsku ani stopy. Vsetko naokolo bolo este zahalene v chladnej hmle a vonku mohlo byt takych 16 stupnov. Celou cestou do Porto, co bolo len nejakych 50km bola dialnica este z vacsej casti zahalena v hmle. Az ked sme prisli do Porto, postupne sa zacinala dvyhat a my sme mohli pozorovat ako sa pred nami odhaluje Porto a jeho mosty.
