Montana

Short stop at Belgrade, on the road, then up to this beautiful lake. The Flathead River's various forks crossed our paths several times while in Montana. Boating/resort towns all along the lake front, quiet beaches, tall forests of pine and birch. Very relaxing!

Tire trouble

We left our camp site on the banks of the Missouri river and headed for Great Falls, we wanted to return to some of our favorite cowboy shops before heading further north towards the border. As we drove along the road a guy pulled up along side and said our wheels were making horrible noises and it might be the trailer bearings. Well we pulled over in a side street and I listened to the wheels ...

back on the Missouri

Two years ago when we did a house swap we spent a month fishing the Missouri river , so when we came back into town we stopped at the old house, filled the water tanks , and headed for a small campsite on the river, only known by the locals. We spent two nights here, Brent fished the river with a friend, and Jo knitted socks.

Also our computer died and we feel we are missing our right arm, hence the short entries

Helena, good beer, good people good times!

... the terrain is on the bike. Then it was off the bar. Helena is a great city, lots of charm, small but has everything you need and more.

Once again the beer was amazing. This guy started brewing only 20 years ago and now had a huge operation going. Complete class and the IPA were unreal. Andy and his girl Flannery had arranged for their friends to be at the pub and to have the bbq on that night so as you can imagine it was all on. The brewery sold ...

But when we get to Montana our boss always takes his crew for a weekend away at Glacier National Park, to prove to us foreigners that America has actually got some pretty places. that was definately worth going to see and i recommend it you.

Day 60 - Going To The Early Morning Sun

We were packed up and on the road for 7.15 am which was beautiful as the sun was just coming up. It became quite obvious, quite quickly, that quite a few other people had had the same idea, as by the time we reached the roadworks quite a queue had formed to pass through the section under repair. The road was completed in 1933 and as it is very well used and puts up with some very harsh climatic conditions it is quite ...

Mike's ancestral heritage at the Rockie's Front

Uncle Jimmy knocked on the door of our RV early Monday morning and we all piled into his pick-up and headed out to where the praire meets the Rockies and where Mike's great great grandparents homesteaded. We were able to see the old ranch house which is now used as a poker house by the current owner's ranch hands. We also saw the old barn and bunk house. The horses followed us everywhere! Then Uncle Jimmy ...

Arriving at "The Front of the Rocky Mountains"

About 5pm, we arrived on Choteau, Montana, whose town slogan is "The Rocky Mountain Front". This is where the Montana prairie meets the Rocky Mountains and where Mike's mother's side of the family lived for many years. It's also where a large nest of dinosaur eggs were found and where part of Jurassic Park was filmed. After ...

Pay It Forward

Today we did not drive very many miles. We ran into some road construction on Hwy 287 south of Augusta, MT. Three motorcycles had passed us and shortly after that we saw them on the side of the road. One of the riders had lost control in a muddy construction and laid it down hard. We stopped to help ...

Cattle Ranching Time!

While we were out in Seattle, we drove to the cattle ranch that James' aunt and uncle run in Polson, Montana. James loves it here and it was easy for me to see why! We did a cattle roundup on horseback, rode 4-wheelers, and visited Glacier National Park. A great trip!
