... close to sea. We didn't trek up any of the mountains but spent a couple of days walking round to the various beaches and hung out. Some of the beaches you can't swin in because
of dangerous cross currents. There's not much to do at night as the sun goes down at 6pm so it's back to your habitacion, shower, eat and then into your hammock for 9 hours ...
... it. Itīs in the Old Town of Quito where everything is built into the traditional ancient architecture. We will hopefully get some photos/videos happening soon, but for now it is most definitely bed time!

Unlike Damon, I think Iīll wait until we actually see some of South America before I start boring people with the details.

Managed to change the itinerary so we could be in the capital city for the v important 2010 qualification game of Ecuador v Uruguay (told G that the itinerary change was down to a new bus timetable). I remembered back in 2006 when Ecuador played England and we beat them, sending them out - that time the Ecuadorians didn't care however and partied hard, just being at the World Cup and playing ...
... such a small kitchen!
That night was a long navigation to the next island during the night so even more people took seasickness tablets and it was very rocky. Luckily neither Nathan nor I were sick – I tend to be fine while I’m asleep!
The next morning we disembarked at Punta Suarez on Espanola Island, where we immediately didn’t know where to look first – lots of sea lions on the rocky breakwall, crabs and Espanola Iguanas, a species which is ...
... to another platform about 10metres away and queued for another bus. We got on the next bus that arrived and about five stations later we were in the old town at Santa Domingo.
The trip made us a little nervous mainly because it was our first time on it and we weren’t sure about the route, the stories we had heard also made us nervous but in the event it was fine, cheap and quick, and used, obviously, by ordinary Ecuadorians going ...

... all my hopes and expectations I felt a little disappointed. Still, I wandered around for a couple of days and visited a functional monastery, which included a climb up the bell tower for a good view over the city, and to the Ecuadorian version of Westminster. That was a fairly interesting tour. The current president collected all the gifts he has been given on international visits and collated them into a museum for the people of Ecuador. I didn't notice anything from Britain ...
Quito, Ecuador lisa.gillespie... normally $15) were going for $30 and we needed 15, all in through the same gate, for our group. Impossible, especially as we wanted them for at least half that. We ended up buying Preferencia tickets (normally $30) for $28. Odd, but still, we had beers to get back to.
Going against Stefan's advice, we went in only 2 hours early and ended up with some **** seats, low down in the stands on a corner. And it began to rain, prompting a flurry of $1 plastic sheet vendors to appear. It ...
... view of the valley. He was really heavy and it took about 10 people to carry the cage down the hill to his new home. He wasnt sedated, so it was a bit nerve wracking sometimes and I chickened out when he growled at my side of the cage. There are about 12 volunteers at the center right now, but only 4 guys, so they get most of the hardest work. Russ has been building alot of cages and working at cutting trees for a bear cage. Iīve been feeding and cleaning alot ...
