It was quite windy as we left the house today - not great conditions for birdwatching but it is so gorgeous round here that just being outside is a pleasure.
First stop the grasslands at the bottom of the hill. Nothing much about as suspected in this weather just a couple of flycatchers braving the breeze. The lovely creekside nature trail was better and our favourite spot here was the black throated grey warbler. Nice.
Next was the Santa Rita Lodge where ...

So, Plan B......
We retraced our steps to Tombstone, a cooler day today thankfully. As we were parking the car at the end of the main street, we saw 2 blokes in full cowboy gear......We knew we were in for a giggle. I had read about a restaurant in Nogales before we went. It was not cheap, and is probably the most expensive restaurant in Nogales. Entree costs were between 15 and 20 bucks.....not out of the norm for the U.S., but pretty pricey for Mexico. We asked a young girl on the corner for directions and she told us how to get to it. You had to walk across the train tracks. As we got ...

... to "rivers" which are completely dry river beds!

Richard was worried he might not get another chance to tour Tuscon so we went in before heading south to Tubac. It was impossible to find an Information Centre and we asked several people and tourists for help. We stopped in the Artisans District for a coffee but even that was no help. There was a Fossil/Gem/ Mineral Show on this weekend and parking was non-existent. Nonetheless ...
