... we set out from Lost Dutchman the next morning the rain started and man, did it pour. Alan did the driving which scared me almost as much as if I was driving. Sheets came down. Fortunately we only had about 100 miles to go to our next destination – Catalina State Park – just outside of Tucson.

The ride back ended up being so much fun! Steep hills and the occasional headwind made it a challenge. This refuge was out of the way a bit but the reviews said it was good so we decided to go have a look. Right on the Mexican border so border protection was everywhere, we even saw them capture a few illegals on the side of the road. Beautiful rugged wilderness, we saw a few new birds around the visitor centre and our first Bobcat and Pronghorn ...

... and another guy was not as nicely dressed as him but nicer than all the other workers. We started to chat and they were very friendly. The very nicely dressed guy was the architect, and the other guy was the jobsite superintendent. They were building a brand new plaza for tourists who visit Nogales. Nogales is obviously serious in their pledge to bring the tourists back.

Richard was worried he might not get another chance to tour Tuscon so we went in before heading south to Tubac. It was impossible to find an Information Centre and we asked several people and tourists for help. We stopped in the Artisans District for a coffee but even that was no help. There was a Fossil/Gem/ Mineral Show on this weekend and parking was non-existent. Nonetheless ...
