... onto the Green Line this time and headed north to our stop on 33rd Street. From there we headed east to the corner of 5th Avenue and 33rd Street where stands the Empire State Building. The day began bright and early at the crack of dawn with a huge itinerary in front of us...

First stop was attending a gospel church service up in Harlem.. after a sprint and 2 trains we arrived and went straight to the Corinthian First Baptist Church for the 9.30 service (recommended in Lonely Planet and other sites).. to our amazement 200 other people had the same time plan that morning! ... exaggerating when I say that this must be the "selfie" capital of the world. Never seen so many selfies being taken.

... a lump to your throat. The centre is next door to the No 10 ladder of the FDNY. As we exited the sirens went off and the engine pulled out of the station and the firefighters jumped on board. Pauline was excited to say the least.
To finish the day off we travelled back uptown to Times Square for a burger, fries, beer and a cocktail in O'Donoghues.

... form the airport to out hotel so we wouldn't have the bother of carrying suitcases on the subway which was very convenient and we arrived at our hotel. It is in a fantastic location- right next to Times Square- and is a very funky modern hotel. We have 2 rooms which are spacious enough and have decent sized bathrooms.
