      ... with high elevation passes in mind!

      Bought gas and propane in Thermopolis and checked e-mail at McDs. Then onward again through Wind River Canyon - very nice - and then for miles and miles across Wyoming with nothing much on the landscape besides sage brush (or whatever it is), fences and power lines. Not a tree in sight for miles sometimes. All bumpy and lumpy - a bit like the Alberta badlands. Outside every town is a road closure gate, for the winter ...

      Yesterday I drove back from Devils Tower to Newcastle, Wyoming. I then decided to head first west and then south to see some of the Wyoming grassland. Out of Newcastle Miss GPS said: 'Continue 67 miles!' At the end of the 67 miles, and now heading south towards Douglas, Wyoming, she issued a new instruction: 'Continue 72 miles!'       We stayed over night in Douglas with a hotel with a pool, so the kids enjoyed that as well as going to a water park as we waited for Heather to join us, so it wasn't ALL educational for those two little guys. There was a little fun mixed in....

      ... in the fog directly in front of me, no further than 100 feet. I braked HARD, swerved to the right, squealing noises from both tire braking and turning friction as the Rodeo swerved around the deer just missing his hind quarters. All she did was stand there Like a Deer in the headlights.

      Well day one is a wrap a serenade of crickets and a light breeze means sleep is only moments away. Good night from Wyoming.
