Happy Mothers Day as a special treat we got to sleep in till 8 o'clock. It is now 10 am and we just hit the road. Heading north towards Myrtle Beach where Tropical Storm Ana landed this morning. We are hoping to get through and up to Roanoke Rapids NC today. Well it's 12:30 and we are seeing our first rain since leaving Canada 15 days ago. We are near Charston SC. Running into tropical storm Ana. Hopefully we will get through quickly and be ahead of her. All along the freeway ...

Gail made a homemade Vodka sauce pasta. Yummy. And guess what? The rain held off for us as well! Woo ...

... and a plume of darker feathers running down their chests. In the Eurasian birds exhibit, there were many different species of duck. The red-crested pochard were really cool looking, with big orange feathers on their heads, looking like some wild slicked-back hairdo. Continuing on, we stopped at the flamingo exhibit to see the Chilean and lesser flamingos, and right past this exhibit was the Eurasian eagle-owls. A pair of these owls were ...

After 191 days, 36 states, and over 7,300 miles, it's time. That's right. It pains me very much to do this, but 6 months on the road has taken a very heavy toll.

So, I must now officially announce that my 27 1/4" Continental Gatorskin front tire and my 20 year old, size 9 Shimano biking shoes have finally seen their final miles. The trusty tire was one especially made for touring with super tough Kevlar ...
