... days yet! Day 2 ended with heavy downpours all night but a much warmer room!!
Day 3, still raining! We had planned to visit Willowbank wildlife park on our way out of Christchurch but as its mostly outside we might have to rethink! Today is the day we pick up our wheels! And dead on 10am we were picked up from the hostel and taken to the depot, after singing the paperwork and handing over wads of cash we were on our way. Thankfully Em picked up map reading pretty quickly and we got ...
... low tech and not touristy at all. 2 of the group were women from East Kilbride also on a 6 month trip and one of them is a very good friend of someone I used to play hockey with at school and FPs. Some of you reading this will know her as the person who never seemed to sweat or have a hair out of place - know who I mean? They also have a blog so we can keep tabs on one another. Headed to Wellington via a couple of stops, one a small ski resort which you know you is ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand spoonski... interactive and full of great displays, films and simulated experiences. London museums could learn a lot! There was also a really cool Formula 1 exhibition on with various cars on show including a Ferrari and Mclaren, which we were able to touch and photograph. Couldn't believe how small the cars are in real life! Day 3 felt pretty rough but managed to make it out in the afternoon to see the NZ Symphony Orchestra Romantics concert. Spent day ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand lexmarshall... it here as expected, cities are not my priority. I dont have much time left and will be heading north to smaller, more picturesque towns with culture and activites to entice me, hopefully.
As i was leaving the South Island everyone was saying to me that they hoped most of my time was spent in the south and i didn't leave too much time for the north. So it should be ...
... in pitch black….spooky but cool. Arrived at Rotorua around 5.30pm. First thing you notice is the disgusting smell of the town……like rotten eggs explained by the high levels of sulphur in the air due to the surrounding volcanoes. Went to a traditional Maori village tour. You get picked up by coach and taken to the outskirts of the town. I was selected to be the Chief of my bus…..basically upon arrival at the village the men perform a ...

... over and beat on the van but it was too late. She backed over it and before I knew there was a geyser of water shooting over and onto the van. My Mom had no clue what it was so she just stayed there. At this point, I'm laughing very hard as I run to her window to tell her what was going on. She figured out it was water when she saw it running down the wind shield. She told me later she thought for a moment something ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand jessnallieEarly morning today. We were up at 5:45 to catch the Overlander to Wellington. It was a 12 hour train journey but it was great because we really got to see a lot of scenic New Zealand... there really are a lot of sheep here. I think I heard something like 13 times more sheep than people, which I have no idea if this staticstic is accurate but there are a lot of sheep.
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand schwate... was a bit bumpy on the way up as the weather was still bad. We had our in-flight meal quite soon after take off as the flight was just over 3 hours. The meal was a choice of lamb curry or chicken in a creamy sauce with sliced potatoes and veg. We both went for the chicken but yet again the creamy sauce was just to hide the fact that it was scrag end chicken not breast (I should of learnt by now). Once ...
