... us have been called "honey" several times by the check in lady who gave us keys to check out the room before we said yes. The first room she told us to look at had not been attended to by housekeeping which was a little disconcerting. She then said we could look at another room which was similar but it was clean, has a fridge and even chairs at the table.

... enjoyed the trails. The scenery of mountains is nice for us Florida folks. Also the cooler weather at night is welcomed.

Hopefully we will have the internet at our next stop and not have to go to the visitor center to get our fix.

... s, yet took time to pick us up. At the trail head, Rock Fish Gap, we met a guy who is biking across the U.S. with a group of friends, to raise money for M.S.. I got his web address from him, we talked for a bit, and then he took off to meet up with his support crew. Funny thing, on my last thru-hike in 2008, we met some kids that just started a cross country bike ride. ... wonder... what sort of monument should there be for those who fought in Civil War? I don't think there needs to be an explanation... nor a deceptive attempt to justify it as a "good cause". Just something like "In memory of those who lost their lives in this tragic war. And the widows and children they left behind"... Actually I don't think this should be the central monument at all. Why not a monument to the builders, designers, architects, businessmen, farmers ...
