Our last turn led us onto a small, windy one-lane road for the last four miles. Those are ok in a car, but in an RV they can be tight! When we reached the vineyard, the drive was worthwhile. We entered through big iron gates and could see the grapevines growing up and down the steep hills. The owner said we could park behind the winery when I called ahead.

Ate a quick breakfast and then got the ride to the trail. Started hiking at 8, the trail was perfect, and we finished the first 7 miles like it was nothing. Today was a long, hilly ride but at least it was about 10 degrees warmer than yesterday. I started a little late this morning but I reached my goal. Carrie and I have wanted to do this hike for the past five years, and finally pulled it off today! The weather was far from perfect, because there was rain in the forecast and the boulder scramble is dangerous when the rocks are slippery. A 10% chance of rain through noon, then 25% until 3pm, then 75% chance of steady rain. The rock scramble is in the middle, so we decided to go ahead with the hike and deal with the rain on ...
