Been to Luxemberg and now in Guttenberg

... highways. No such luck. Next stop was Guttenberg which turns out to be quite a little tourist town on the river at a lock. Found a quaint motel in an old list building right on the river. Reasonably priced room, even free wifi.

Had dinner at a nearby cafe also overlooking the river. I tried cat fish and Wes had a smoked Iowa chop. Watched a boat push 12 barges down the river. Barges are tied together.

The James live in the RV Resort we stay in while in Florida during the winter. We parked the coach in their driveway and even get to use their electric. ... watched it and liked it but Sydney wanted nothing to do with it.
Today was really special. A baseball team called the Ghosts, walked out of the corn and played baseball in the field dressed in 1920s White Sox uniforms I think. It was a scene right out of the movie and there were several hundred people there to enjoy it.

... it, in part because if you look very closely on the FAA's Sectional chart, "Field of Dreams" is actually marked!We orbited the field once, dashed into Dubuque to pick up a rental car, then headed right back to the ball field.

I had brought Alex's and my mitts for just this moment. As a father, it was so satisfying to be able to stand on the actual Field of Dreams and have my son ask me "Dad, ya wanna have a catch?".

... on our trip, apart from what I've mentioned already we've also encountered many deer. We were following the river again from there, to our next stop at Davenport and the National Mississipi River Museum and Aquarium. The drive into town was disconcerting with numerous pawn brokers, strip clubs and tattoo parlours in quite a run down neighbourhood.
