... was starting to clear.

After lunch we headed back to Fairbanks and stopped at an old dairy that is now a bird sanctuary. We walked out into one of the mosquito-infested trails and nobody had bug spray. We did get to see ducks, sandhill cranes and lots of other birds.

... took a several hours to get us all across. We now cross the most treacherous road anywhere. It rained all night and the road on the Top Of The World Highway is unpaved,... very steep,... narrow with few guardrails, ...laced with numerous potholes and it is at such a high elevation that we were traveling in the clouds a good part of the way . ... bought a great Arctic hat that is the interesting combination of Alpaca Wool and Muskrat Fur. Beautiful and very warm. The exhibit hall was at Pioneer Park so they had the Museums that are onsite open as well. We moseyed through the Pioneer Air Museum and the Train Museum before deciding to have a snack and head to the North Pole.
