Florence to Lucca
... same time. She's a better driver than navigator :-D.
Only hiccup so far was hot Sergio refusing to start when we stopped in Lucca to find the hotel. 10 minutes cooling whilst we grabbed a coke and off he went delivering us safely to our first destination and a well earned beer.

Day 4 - Rome - Pisa - Montecatini
... boys were welcomed over the public address and had a parade with other youth teams on the field at half time.
After the match the boys played some touch on the field. We then headed off to our hotel in Montecini. A very nice town with narrow streets and typical Tuscan architecture.
The boys had some free time after supper to walk around the town and explore.

Well that's smaller than I thought it would be...
... a week where all the marble was stolen and reused in other sites. Beautiful marble work!! Almost blinding for pictures.
Had a lovely lunch on a side street from the Field of Miracles.
Kids got to "shop" a bit at the market.
On the way back to the Villa we stopped in Empoli at the "Super Coop", a very big grocery store, to pick up a few things. I found "Made in Manitoba bread flour" and "Canadian Maple Syrup".

... the previous group of 25 depart through the glass doors before we were admitted for our 15 minutes of ‘viewing time’. The commentary on the meaning and history of the painting was easily as impressive as the art work itself, which was some 3m high and 5m across, complete with a gap where the monks previously increased the size of the door between the dining room and the kitchen – taking out Jesus’ feet in the process! Floats and Faces
... some of the floats were almost as high as the Macy balloons – about 4 stories tall. Their wheels filled the lanes in the avenue, and whether at ground level, or on the balcony of the hotels lining the streets, you had to mind where you stood and step out of the way, or be brushed back by the float. The 100 or so people on each float danced, bounced and jumped to music pumped through speakers on the their float making each one ...
