... to see the sights. I was at Lake Garda in half a day, just after dark, and I got such a treat in the morning when I opened the curtains. The sun was out and the views were fabulous. I drove down the west side of the lake, (you couldn't call it a bank, more like sheer cliff-face) The road is cut into the rock for most of its length and is incredible with crazy tunnels and viaducts all the way. I took in a bit of the equally stunning Lake Como as well, and I now see why people rave ...
... and the GPS was set to take us by the shortest route - well, it might have been the shortest route on a map but the narrow roads in the Devon countryside slowed us down considerably. At times the laneways were just wide enough for two cars to pass - the sides of the road were high hedges with no verge.

... Church. As we left this precinct we saw a sign pointing to the oldest surviving house in Plymouth, situated behind St Andrews Church so we went to have a look. The house, called Prysten House, was built in 1498 as a merchant’s house and now contains a restaurant called The Greedy Goose.
Back at our hotel we checked in and are delighted to find that our room overlooks Sutton Quay an area with a marina, a number of restaurants and The Mayflower Steps.
