    ... down to Lynmouth. This is an extraordinary contraption built in 1887-90 over a 150m fall in elevation on a slope of 1:1.75, and 258m in length. Not sure how it compares with Scenic Railway at Katoomba but similar in concept. It is powered by water though and so simple, with water being released by the bottom car until the top one is heavier and so just goes downhill, pulling the other one up. Great views on the way.     After leaving St Austall we headed for Fowey which is such a gorgeous village at the mouth of the river. To our surprise when we walked down into the village there was the large shi Silver seas docked. It was the last thing you would expect to see in such a tiny place. Lovely shops and bought myself a casual top. Would loved to have stayed there for a couple of days. Passed through Portruan.     ... 4pm! Wandered back up to look at the old city walls. Nearly 70% of them are still there and are almost 2000 years old! They have repelled rebellions as well as witnessed celebrations. Sunday 7th September Ready for a quiet day today, so had a leisurely brekkie and chat with our host. This is a 450 acre organic farm growing a variety of crops for animal feed.
