... s exactly how long it took us to get there, and for the first time on this trip, WE MISSED OUR TRAIN! Called amtrak and got booked onto the last train of the night leaving at 11, and went to a nearby sports bar to kill time until then. Maine was beautiful! And a joy to see our old friend Nils for the first time in over a year. Friday morning we drove to the neighboring town of Ogunquit, a picturesque coastal town with beautiful changing ...

The engine and carriage are not joined together except for the electrics to work the microphone. The gradient is very steep at times - 37.41% at the steepest. (14 inches up in every 3 feet forward).

The views on the way up were lovely and at the top even better. We were at cloud level - what few ...

... climb went by in a flash. Wow, pretty easy ride to the top! Maura and I hung out at the overlook, soaking up the sunshine and the scenic mountains views. I told Maura the chain popping and gearing problem was much worse, not better, after yesterday's bike shop repair. I felt safe riding Surly downhill and into Maine since she had new brakes, but, it ...
