... was getting late. The rain
finally stopped and it was humid but not hot. We arrived at the Palmyra visitor
center at around 6:30 and when we came walking up the walk, two sister
missionaries snapped to attention and waited for us to come inside. We had the
whole place to ourselves besides a senior missionary couple, Bro and Sis
Childs. We got a map of the sites to see in the morning and a list of camping
spots in the area.

We packed up our wet tents and awning this morning and headed out of Watkins Glen. Luckily the rain had stopped, although there was some fog in the campground ( and later on the road) so I t was not too bad to pack. This morning dawned bright and beautiful with no clouds, endless sun, and cool temps. Unfortunately, we did not see this for some time as we had to be on the road by 6 am. So we could get to Heid's Hodaka in Jonesboro, NY and get Eltee a new front tire. We would have gone to a regular BMW Dealer but the only one close to our route of travel was closed on Saturday. ... and that includes Niagara Falls! Soft shale has eroded way under the limestone layers which then fall down and are eventually washed away. As we walked along I noticed what I thought was a lot of leaves fallen down along hte hillside and it turned out to be shale peices. Of course I had to put one in my pocket for our meager collection of stones.
A fun little stop which got us some hiking in an otherwise long day of driving and shopping.
