... 30 hours of straight sailing we arrived in heaven just before sunset. The overwhelming relief to be in glass flat water with the anchor down in a stable vessel cannot be overstated. ... bed shaking to wake you up. Having that happen also makes it a little difficult to get your heart to slow back down so that you can get back to sleep! I can tell you that I will not miss having earthquakes once I get to settle down in Minnesota! I think they are one of the scariest natural phenomenons! There is no warning for them and when they are happening you never know if it is going to continue to shake or if it is going to begin to shake harder! I do not like them! ...

In other class news we had a huge Independence Day celebration at school on September 14. The Spanish department puts on a big assembly and then the parents bring in lots of typical Costa Rican food and we have a party! It was a great day! My students performed a dance.
