    ... lightning and thunderous tympani. Escazu and San Jose are in central Costa Rica, surrounded by mountains, and these make the perfect setting for afternoon storms during "winter." The storms often lasted for many hours into the evening. It wasn't very cold, but being outside was very wet. We both had umbrellas, and made sure they were in our backpacks when we left for school in the morning.

    ... for breakfast and came home after dark. Of course, during this time, the women are cleaning up the kitchen after each sitting then preparing and serving the food again - not a man in sight.

    Morgs couldn't sleep due to the constant irritation and scratching of his scalp so Mama revised his head out on an esky in the laundry. He had nits - 45 live ones and heaps of eggs that are still there but hopefully ...

    ... not only with ingredients but also with how I cook these meals. I don't remember cooking ever in this kitchen as it was mama's domain.

    Am feeling a little lost today. There are lots of things I could do but there is nothing that I have to do. Emily has already asked her father-in-law if there's a job for me but he's not recruiting for another month. I don't think I want the job anyway as it is telemarketing in English ...

    ... we are 1/4 of the way done with our school year. Getting grades in was such a pain! Grading is the worst! Luckily, I got it all done and report cards go out on Monday so we will see how that goes. Then we will also have parent teacher conferences next week as well. I hate parent teacher conferences. They always make me so nervous. Luckily I have a nice group of parents and I have gotten to know most of them so we will see how it goes. The way they set up conferences ...
