... you weren't familiar with the area so we got back in the car and headed further south......then the madness ensued; we all started having stomach pains/cramping and needed to find a bathroom! Finally we found a camp ground with bathrooms that had plumbing and we ALL had to go....must have been that overpriced diner food....I swear I get a stomach ache everytime we go anywhere out of town.....my stomach was uneasy for the remainder of the morning and I decided it was probably a bad idea ...

Now is the winter of our discontent..

... of Mistress Shore (normally only mentioned in the play) and she followed him round speaking his lines as he signed and signing everyone else's speeches to him. This made things quite difficult to follow.

At the start of Act II the stage was besieged by owls. They had a nest somewhere - presumably in the roof - and as dusk fell the owlets started screeching for food and the parents began to circle regularly above the stage with beaks ...

... So many of their buildings are still standing and they have a variety of bars, restaurants and boutique stores. They don't even have a traffic light, just stop signs. They have the old bank on display with the original safes and most of the buildings are labeled with what was there and the year. Many of the stores have old memorabilia in the front windows We walked around and checked out the shops then started towards home. Terry saw a sign for a reservoir ...

... short walk along the shore: besides a burbling stream amidst the pine trees at Rock Creek, we were the only campers.




Nearby was Quincy, a charming town to walk around but sadly, on Sunday when we tried to find coffee and wifi it was closed ! We reluctantly left Plumas county but were consoled by the glorious drive through Indian Valley,along the Feather River ...

... lovely, and we learned about the history of the caves as well as those involved in finding them. To say that some of the men made some very unusual (and stupid) choices is giving them too much credit. The founder went in beyond the number of matches he had and it took him three hours to come back out in the complete darkness (he used the sound of running water to make his way back out). And then later in the caves' development, another man blasted ...
