Origins (Part 1)

... and respite of the outdoors, of meeting new people, of taking an enormous amount of experience and information and trying to transform them into a handful of words, I confess there is a bit of desperateness in this project. I cannot complain in the least about 2007 for me. I began scratching and crawling through my first major fiction, a collection of stories that mines the first ten years of my life, but the stories revolve around the ...

Ground Hogs, Good times and Great Britain!

... has Miles from Frasier in it and was very funny. We eneded the evening by heading to lower East side to check out some bars! Was a very funny night. my shuttle to the airport was 4:30 in the morn, so I concluded there was nothing else for it but to stay up! By 8:45 when I was boarding my return to blighty flight I was regretting this decision! New York was totally awesome even if I was only there for 3 days and a great way to end the trip! Thanks Cazza for a great time!

New York - 25th to 29th June 2007

... nice to step into the air con'd rooms! we saw the sealions being fed, and felt sorry for the Polar Bears that were flaked out in the heat. We then wandered back towards the subway via a MacD's (Rob was still needing flu-food!) to be noted that USA qtr pound cheeseburgers are not as nice as UK ones, they're all mushy meat! urgh! We got an hours kip then got changed and went out to a different italian, which was nice but strange in that it had a big screen TV ...

... many more. Ava has dragged me around all the big shops looking at the designer gear (Yawn !). The weather has been hot and sticky for the past few days but last night we had a good old thunder storm which cleared the air and today is a bit fresher. New York is nice (in a funny kind of way) very glitsy and bustling now we know why its called the city that never sleeps you can go out 24/7 and there ...

... bays are being cleared out now prior to restoration; however, the National AIDS Memorial and the Memorial to the firefighters remain currently. The latter memorial is specific to those killed in a fire in 1996; however, within hours of the terrorist attacks on September 11 hundreds of New Yorkers spontaneously congregated at the Cathedral and the memorial has become a shrine and a place to honour the firefighters killed on September 11. Andy introduced me to the Dean, the Very ...

Shamrocker Ireland Tour --the best scenery yet!

July 23 This morning we had a bit of a hike to the Shamrocker Tour pickup point, but once on the bus and out of the Irish rain, all was good. Our tour guide, Jenny, seemed quite nice but a little vacant. She would be telling us about an important event in history and would trail off mid-sentence, leaving us all staring at her. She'd then apologize and tell us she had been distracted by the fields, or a sheep......we guessed she's still not used to Ireland's beauty. Our driver, Pete, was ...

... in every seat (with lots of uninteresting TV to watch, and no movies), and I was even able to sleep for a couple of hours. We arrived at JFK right on time, at 7 a.m., NY time, which was 4 a.m. our body time. My idea of going on vacation is always getting to the airport, hopping into a cab, and sitting back in luxury while the cabbie does all the work. Walt's idea is discovering how the public ...

Eowin says it's a favorite of anglers, as Erriff is the prime salmon river in the West. Definitely worth the quick stop. The road north to Westport is beyond scenic. It's just too hard to put into words, so I will stop ...
