Total miles to date: 10,150 On Tuesday, May 6, Don and Loretta made it into Idaho and stopped just east of Priest River. They went back to Newport to stay for the night at The Walden House Bed and Breakfast (www.thewaldenhouse.com), where they were hosted by Farren and Jolene Walden. From their website: "The Walden House Bed and Breakfast is our family home of over 6,000 square feet, where we have enjoyed raising our 15 children... Take a stroll and visit nearby Pend Oreille River." This morn...
Priest River, Idaho, United States donstevenson... the gold rush) we found an Elk Farm. There they were on the side of the road as if they were cattle....there were lots of them and they were BIG. We know some of you would have been in your glee.
The roads were great and the drive to Sandpoint was excellent. Could have kept going......
Staying at the Quality Inn. Great room for a great price. Walked to a local pub....Eichart's ( Putting the fun in disfunctional). Great food, great Elysian ...
The house is a mess and I can't sleep. We are preparing to leave on our first snowbird adventure. As would be expected things are taking longer to get done than planned and disorganization is the rampant. Dan took our car to Spokane to get the tow hitch installed and we hope to leave Sandpoint on Wednesday 10/8 with the coach to get hooked back up with the car. Towing a car behind 36 feet of house is ...
Sandpoint, Idaho, United States dixsan... we arrived so we went for a quick bike ride. We saw lots of deer and picked out seven Rocky Mountain goats in the bluffs above the lake. That was all we saw of Farragut as we headed off early the next morning towards Canada.
Farragut state park, Idaho, United States mcginlays... bumpy - I left my seat more than once. This is where I parted company with Mike and Brigitte and struck east on my own. And where I found the heat... The interior of Washington, much like BC, is very desert like, including the temperatures. My bike thermometer (in Fahrenheit) quickly registered 100F and stayed that way for over 6 hours! It was as my brain was baking while driving ...
Sandpoint, Idaho, United States pharmo... to take us with them - bummer! We made our way through to Coeur d'Alene were we had planned on spending the night - they have firewords on the lake, so we thought it would be a great way to spend the birthdays girls birthday! However when we got there there was no room in the inn! Big down great motels, but apparently the whole distict moves in for the fireworks. We continued our journey and ended up staying in Sandpoint ...
Sandpoint, Idaho, United States judencharlietoday was an exciting day because we crossed our first state line! although we would have to cross back into washington in order to pick up the highway, we camped just across the idaho border for the evening. today's ride was the longest to date, both for me and the trip. i was a bad boy and didn't train with super-long distances... the ride started off with some fairly tough rolling hills as we pedaled over a range of hills. it wasn't a mountain pass, but ...
Newport, Washington, United States stevevls... 34 for information about the Darts' employer, Dr. Forrest Bird. Both Ken and Christy have joined the Pacin' Parson Yahoo Group, so you can ask them questions about Dr. Bird or about the paradise by Lake Pend Oreille that they call home. The Bonner County Daily Bee interviewed Don and Loretta during this visit and published an article on May 15: http://www.pacinparson.org/bee.html
Sandpoint, Idaho, United States donstevenson... That was basically a no-brainer for Jeff, so we headed up the road and found a 27 hole Golf Club with a nice new RV Park, with full hookups, showers, and laundry, in a rural setting. Within a half hour Deb was left to slave doing laundry and cooking dinner (okay, heating a frozen dinner) while Jeff went out and "flogged". The golf wasn't pretty but the course and scenery were, and we had a nice evening enjoying dinner in a quiet setting.
Chewelah, Washington, United States jeffanddebWe finally made it. Almost 3000 miles, 8 days and tired!!!! But we're here, it's 6:30 am and I've already seen a deer in our pasture. Peaceful. We pulled in to Newport about 5 pm last night. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. Now for the next "journey". Dennis leaves Saturday for Atlanta and about 4 days later for Afghanistan. The End Margaret & Dennis
