      ... sheer size of the houses! Blocks and blocks of beautiful properties filled the street but each one also had its own sense of privacy as there are so many trees in Charlotte separating each one, and no fences! It is absolutely magnificent, and not even 15 minutes outside of Charlotte city centre so from a commute perspective must be a dream. We could definitely see why everyone we came across seemed so very happy. North Carolina, you are gorgeous!

      ... lunch by the Serene Jackson lake with an incredible view of the mountains. A solitary deer greeted us in the way back. A little further ahead, what sounded like down of a rock in a crescendo manner, was the non-vocal wing flapping sound made by the ruffed grouse. Per Wikipedia, finding this bird can be challenging and requires a good ear. Go, Brenda!
