We tried for about a week to find jobs in Brisbane, but we weren't having much more luck than in the Gold Coast. Although hostels are cheap, it adds up when you just keep staying in them. So we could either sign a six month lease somewhere, without jobs, or stay in a hostel until we found a job. Shaun and I are both too chicken for the carefree backpacker ...

... I definitely had that jaw dropping feeling standing beside them, especially the Opera House. The architecture is just overwhelming and impressive and its crazy that for so long, I had seen these landmarks in photos on Facebook and now I was actually there.

... Thanks to everyone who has continued to read the blog and posted comments, I hope you have enjoyed reading it and having a glimpse of what we have been up to, we've loved it!. I will put up the final photos of Aus while in Sydney (leaving for NZ 3rd Jan, although have just seen there has been another earthquake there!).

So... Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all our friends and family, we look forward to seeing you all again in February ...

... pods of dolphins leaping through the water. A subsequent tour guide has told us that when he was there last year watching a pod of dolphins, he could see 3 separate shark dorsal fins cutting through the water following them, with all these surfers just around the point totally unaware.

Afterwards we just cruised down the main street looking through all the little shops selling everything you could possibly want made from hemp. Nimbin is really really small and the bus driver agreed to drive everybody back 2 hours later so we stopped off at a little café for a chai tea and headed back to the bus.

We got back to Byron and decided to buy a box of wine (the cheapest thing in Australia, $10 for 4 litres) and go and drink it ...
