... of drug smuggling - not a good look. So I had to unwrap them all and put the in clear plastic bags to avoid any confusion and embarrassment. Phew. I am NOT looking forward to the 5am start tomorrow to drive to Newcastle - but at least it might mean I'm tired enough to sleep on one of my planes, and might alleviate some jet lag. . . who knows. I've never had it before so I don't know what to expect. At least I have a nice hotel with a comfy bed. . .I hope!Wish me luck . . . . ...

It's now only 2 sleeps until my great adventure begins . . . a 3 week trip to China! There's a few words which describe how I feel about it, including 'I can't wait!!' and 'what was I thinking?!', though I'm mostly excited.It's come round so fast, I can't quite believe I'm getting on a plane in less than 48 hours. Needless to say I've been packing and sorting frantically for the last day or two, and have the customary feeling of dread that I've forgotten something. And ...

So we're starting this little trip tomorrow.

I guess it's only right to start a little record of all the events that follow. There are a number of reasons for this. One is so people know where we are, and also so somewhere down the line, when nostalgia strikes, I can read this back and judge my use of the English language.

... and Strawberry fields! We learned a lot of interesting Beatles history, so much that it's hard for me to pinpoint any one ineteresting fact. After the tour we were dropped at the Cavern, a famous venue in Liverpool where many artists have played (including the Beatles, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Adele... pretty much anyone you can think of!) We walked around checking out the wall of fame, the ins and outs of the pubs, and finally wound up ...
