    ... landed at the Ferry terminal in Central Auckland map in hand, and in a mild state of bewilderment. I think after the sleepy and relaxing towns of the bay of Islands, we all of a sudden found ourselves in a ‘busy in New Zealand terms’ town.     ... hate big cities. But it's clean, trendy and surprisingly quiet for a big city. Which is a great sign for seeing the rest of this country. I quickly had to buy all new clothes after stepping off the plane in the dead of winter, but luckily I already have work lined up in palmerston north. After buying my groceries and doing my own laundry for the first time in 7 months I am off, to join the ranks of "contributing citizen" once more.

    ... a very impressive town hall and some funky art by local artists. Around midday we ventured towards the Auckland Art Gallery, we were greeted on arrival and presented with a map of the gallery and locations of the exhibits, we were particularly interested in seeing some traditional Maori art!
