... the fall out of a nuclear attack.

This bunker was built secretly "in plain sight" between 1958 and 1961 when the Virginia Wing of the Hotel was being constructed. President Eisenhower organised the very secretive bunker and the cost at time of construction was eleven million dollars. Part of the arrangement for the building of the bunker was that the Federal Government also paid for the construction of the extension of the Hotel.

You guys, I LOVE skiing! We had a group breakfast, graciously cooked by Dana and Daniel; before heading over to Timberline to ski. There were four new skiiers in the group so we headed straight to the bunny slopes. I made it on and off the ski lift without falling: step one! Daniel was trying to teach the basics to Hoptu, but Greg and I were too excited to wait so we started off down the slope. I made it with only two falls... Then we went back up ...

... of putting chains on tires. We both were actually pretty excited to learn the process. And I have to say, my inner six year old was pretty disappointed by the simplicity of the process. The rest of the night was spent staying warm by a fire, grabbing last minute supplies from the tiny Shop N Save (Basically the Davis equivalent to Greentown's Hulce Supermarket), and shuttling the luggage and everyone up to the lodge in the cars with chains.
