    They seem to have a sort of little slef satisfied smirky grin on their faces which is both endearing and funny. The males can grow to be 5000 lbs and up to 16 foot long, so no lightweights here. It is only the males who grow the elephantine nose, after they have reached about 5 years old.

    ... course. Many of the soldiers made the decision to get on the bus today and not complete the full distance. That is ok. Its important that they avoid pushing too hard and injuring themselves.

    Normally, I would complete a 93 mile course like today's in about 5 hours time. The 10 and 1/2 hours is double the normal time....but the experience was priceless. I'm exhausted tonight ...

    ... Festival. What a trip. Everywhere inside and outside of Cambria there were scarecrows. Some of them were so real, it was hard to tell them from the people sitting on the benches. They were really fun to look at and wonder what the person was like that had the mind to create that one??!!

    One place I had wanted to see was Pfeiffer Beach, a quiet hidden beach down an unmarked road. With the help of the guy in the General Store we found it.
