      On the road home

A travel blog entry by dkauten on Feb 15, 2015

Picked up the car at our friends, the Meadors. Hitting the road for Atlanta. Wow, it's been a whirlwind expedition! Feels like we've been gone for months. Can't believe how much we've seen and all the places that we've been in the last 26 days. I will certainly view so many of the places we've visited with a different set of eyes and opinions ...

      Summary

Drove 70 miles in a hour.

      Highlights

Atlanta is a huge, spread out city with a sprawling high rise downtown centre. We really struggled with finding anything to like about this town.

It certainly has one of the worst taxi systems I have ever experienced anywhere in the world, with a minimum charge of $12 regardless of distance traveled. This policy is not only a rip off but hugely dangerous.

We refused to pay the minimum ...

... factor standing for said country. The public live and breathe soccer in Europe. Little children are seen kicking a soccer ball in the streets, laughing giddily as they play. The locals wear soccer journeys and on game day come wearing their team’s scarves, banners, and even face paint. Soccer is a cause for celebration and acts fundamentally in defining the cultural landscape for ...
