Jade earrings

My friend Diane just reminded me that I hadn't finished the story with the jade earrings. Here is a photo of the finished product. I love them. The jade is actually a very pale green color (all jade starts out white and is affected by other minerals as to the colors). The settings are silver and I am very happy with them indeed.

Getting ready to go

... br> Leaving Saturday for L.A. where I'll meet up with Terry Chamorro and stay at her place Saturday night. Sunday morning we have a 7:45am flight out of LAX which means going to the airport at 5:45am. Ungodly time. We are flying on Mexicana Airlines via Mexico City to Guatemala City.
Not exactly sure yet where we'll meet up with Rose and Jim....probably at LAX before the flight.

Westward bound, once again

Finally got the truck back, all fixed and running beautifully. Decided to get on the road, though it was already 2 pm. Headed south along Flathead Lake through green forests and valleys to I-90, then west, west, west. All uphill, what a climb, to Coeur d'Alene in Idaho, then downhill into Washington State. Spent almost two hours trying to find Riverside State Park in the city of Spokane, finally set up the camper and tried to settle down for the night.

Star Spangled Banner - Mutton Bustin

... in mind we grabbed some fish n chips and head off to watch the Draft Horse Pull in the main arena.  The men equalled the horses in size and as with English country fairs, the exhibitors were wearing their Sunday best, neat clean shirts, smart Stetson and extremely proud of these grand beasts.  However Draft Horse Pull is not the most stimulating events to watch (possibly 15 minutes max – an hour if drunk) and we went off to find the Mutton Bustin.

This should be in ...

Pantyhose, Kayaking and Sample Menus

... Rob and Ian) took off for a day’s fly-fishing where they waded into the St. Jo River to cast their lines under the expert guidance of Rob. Ian’s casting was significantly worse than the other two but being a jammy sod he managed to catch one fish – a 13 inch cut throat trout (photograph to prove it) and Tim also landed one but two fish for a whole day’s work seemed a harsh return for the effort they all put in.

Golf - Yanks V Brits, Coeur D'Alene golf course

The golf trip was organised by Steve and I was looking forward to a decent round of golf at a local course to see if my game could recover from the disastrous run I'd been having in England. So four of us (Tim, Rob, Steve and I) set off at lunchtime in Jim’s hire car to drive the supposed 45-minute route around the lake with Tim driving. Tim normally drives an Aston ...

Fathers Day

... Now, we have some really great experiences on barter, but that's not always the case:) Let me explain...Kelly had arranged for me to get a massage and reflexology. When I walked in and met Jodie, who I think was still in her pajamas, she put me in a recliner in the living room, reclined the chair and grabs an old blanket off the couch to cover me up. Now Jodie was a very sweet woman, but this was one of the most hilarious ...

Richard Manning on Parade

A good night's rest in Missoula (with a cat named Stranger to purr us to sleep), a hot shower, and we were off and running. It was raining, fifty degrees, and we were supposed to meet Dick Manning at the farmer's market for our interview. First, we went to the wrong farmer's market (Missoula has two, about six blocks apart...). But then we made it to the right place, set up camera and sound under a big tent in a park, and waited ...

Catching Our Breath

... when we lived in Park City, working at Waldenbooks at Lakehurst Mall (since deceased). How wonderful, to see my old friend, and to be reminded of why I love him and treasure him as a friend. So smart, so thoughtful, so aware, and so full of love for his family and friends. Not only did he give us a great interview, but he picked us up, took us to his home to hang with his family for a while, fed us dinner, and then got up early the next morning to meet us and get us to our next ...
