    Today we visited the town of Bodie Hill. It's an old gold mining town back up in the hills. The mine operated from 1863 to the 1880’s. At its peak, 10,000 people lived in the town. But it’s a ghost town now. Much of it burned in 1892 and again in 1932 destroying all but 10% on the town. The State of California keeps it in a state of arrested decay.     Lee Vining was much smaller than we had expected given its proximity to the eastern entrance to Yosemite plus Mono Lake and Bodie Ghost Town.
