Historical Traveler Reviews Madeleine Inn Santa Fe

Felt Uncomfortable

from shrimpUs

We found the Madeleine to be pretty but somewhat uncomfortable. We did not feel welcome in the common space and when we had some questions about features of the room, I sensed a fear of bothering the owner from the staff. The breakfasts were very rich and a little too artery clogging for my taste. We have found other bed and breakfasts in the area to be friendlier, less expensive, to offer more services, and be more comfortable.

It's the best

from longislandtravelers

this was a really special experience. the violet was an outstanding room-spacious, well appointed with a great king bed and a woodburning fireplace. the breakfasts were imaginative and tasty and the wine/cheese in the evenings hit the spot- hats-off to jeffrey and anna. marie in housekeeping did a great job. we were there 8 days and hated to leave. rgds, your long island friends

Comfy, Cozy, Close to everything

from chacocyn

It was COLD in Santa Fe in early Dec., but warm in The Madeleine. The staff are helpful, genuine and a constant source of tips, assistance and fresh-from-the-oven cookies. Breakfasts are excellent and the generous service period -- 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. -- allows for early-risers and late-sleepers. (I fell into both categories on different mornings.) I enjoyed both an armchair in front of the parlor fire and my big, high bed. I whole-heartedly recommend this inn. I did not get the chance to try the on-site spa, but a fellow guest shared her review over breakfast one morning, and she *loved* her massage.

Wonderful Retreat

from CharlysAunt

Everything about the Madeleine is wonderful! .This is a lovely and quiet inn, with a staff that is exceptional in every way. They really attend to their guests and go out of their way to ensure your comfort. During our 6 day stay, we found the breakfasts to be hearty, both in the selection of foods and in the conversations with our fellow guests. In the afternoons there was always a new supply of cookies and nibbles to greet us on our return from the days activities. The staff could not have been more attentive to our needs. They helped us arrange a tour of Los Alamos and the Rio Grande area that will go down in our memory as one of the special events of our lives. The location, just a few blocks from the Plaza was within easy walking distance of the downtown area and the galleries on Canyon Rd. In fact, we did not need a car to get around Santa Fe.

Breakfast was always hearty, both in the food and the conversations with our fellow guests. We had a wonderful time in Santa Fe and we look forward to visiting again soon. Of course, we will stay at the Madeleine!

Absolue Nirvana at the Madeleine Inn and Spa

from Seajan

Madeleine Inn and Absolute Nirvana Spa ... Memories

Wow. My boyfriend and I stayed at this awesome 1800's inn, where guests can have a couples or a single deluxe spa treatment. Best massage ever and best date we ever had. We're from Silver City by way of CA. This was our anniversary treat, going to Santa Fe. We've stayed a lot of places up and down the CA coast, including some places we paid a lot for ... that weren't that great ... won't mention a certain b&b in Santa Barbara with sheets of paint peeling off the bathroom walls.

The Madeleine was yummy New Mexico at its best. Everything about it looked even better than on the website.

We stayed in a garden cottage a few paces from the main house, with our own fireplace. Beautiful fabrics, wonderful woodwork, gorgeous mirrors. Inside the Queen Anne historic house of the inn, also gorgeous. I felt like a Queen.

I will carry these memories forever.

Couldn't have been better

from hewhomustnotbenamed

We came to Santa Fe to celebrate our anniversary and chose The Madeleine because it seemed so very romantic and was close to the plaza area. We couldn't have made a better choice. The main house is a beautiful historic home which is decorated with such impeccable taste. The service was attentive but not intrusive. We had spa treatments at the inn's new spa, which were the highlight of our trip, especially the couples treatment we did. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the patio, enjoying the peaceful gardens, listening to the birds chirping. It was just heavenly. We also really liked the fact that the breakfast activity took place at the sister inn across the street, leaving The Madeleine perfectly tranquil at all times. The breakfasts were some of the best we have ever had at any inn or restaurant. Great wine & cheese hour over there as well every evening, which was also a great place to mingle with guests and the innkeeper.

Quiet, relaxing and altogether delightful!

from Pesca7

Great location in a few blocks of the plaza. We booked the Forsythia, which is in a separate building by the spa. Loved it! Quiet, relaxing and altogether delightful. We were looking for a place where we could kick back and relax--the ambiance at the Madeleine was just right for such an experience. Room was large, much larger than the usual B&B room, decorated in Victorian style. I really liked the big bay window where I could lounge and read. Breakfasts were over at their other B&B, the Nicholas, which was a short walk from our cottage, and they were outstanding! We also enjoyed the wine and cheese in the evening which we had in the courtyard at the Nicholas. I had a great massage at the Absolute Nirvana Spa--having it right there (and with a 10% discount for being a B&B guest) was wonderful. Would definitely stay there again.

Absolute Luxury

from anonymous

The Absolute Nirvana spa experience tops every spa treatment I've ever had anywhere else. Total luxury and pampering delivered by gracious and unpretentious master masseuses in surroundings that are calming without being contrived or overwhelming. For the spa-virgin or the spa-junkie, I would wholeheartedly recommend Absolute Nirvana (especially the deluxe treatments----oohhh my!). Thank goodness I live close by!

Slice of Heaven

from anonymous

The Madeleine Inn is a slice of heaven on earth. The accommodations, the food and the staff make you feel as if you are in loving arms of family. The staff is knowledgeable about everything to do in Santa Fe and are some of the friendliest people I've ever met. The rooms are clean and beautifully decored, and the proximity to the Plaza and Canyon Road make walking everywhere a real breeze.

The most romantic bed and breakfast

from anonymous

I have stayed at the Madeleine Inn for several years and it amazes me that it just gets better and better. It is a superbly renovated and decorated Victorian house that actually is as advertised--just a few blocks from the Plaza. The rooms are romantically decorated and several have fireplaces.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and provide excellent service that is not at all intrusive. I have traveled to Santa Fe between 60 to 70 times and The Madeleine's atmosphere and service surpasses that of the many superb hotels for which Santa Fe is famous.
