... vendor at the market or cleaning rooms at the hotel. The volcanoes themselves exude resilience, symbolizing strength, power, and mystery and making me realize what a speck we are on this earth. They have been here way before us, and will remain long after we are gone.

And so, as on all OAT trips, it was a journey of learning and discovery, about Central America and about ourselves.

... A very artistic night. It felt great using my brain again after battling with a sluggish mind for the past few days due to the altitude.
We made friends with the bartender (Andrea) that night, who sympathised with the whole tent-in-snow situation and offered us a place to stay for the next few nights. It was a huge relief as we were starting to get worried by how quickly the temp. was dropping.

... we checked the surrounding mountains and also the microbreweries. Only one night in Denver, damn!

We arrived 6 hours late in Denver, not overly annoyed as we had come to expect it from the trains and the train itself was an experience. We were greeted by clear blue skies and beautiful sunshine but were not too hot. The ‘mile-high city’ had a gentle coolness to it that kept me happy.
