    ... or playing fields, they have been green. Springfield Station was quite sparse. There was a waiting room (you'd need it in winter) with toilets and a chocolate vending machine. But that's about it. Ian reckoned Wellington (NSW) station was prettier. Well our next train was only about 40 minutes late so I suppose in Amtrak terms, that's not late! So we're on our way again and this train, cause it came from / goes to Washington DC and New York has wifi. So I'll be able to send this ...

    ... about 57 degrees F. Amazing how different the weather was from 2 days ago. Then it was short sleeves and shorts, yesterday long sleeves and long pants and today it was coats.

    Stopped in Arlington at a Wholefoods Market where we made our own salads for lunch. You pay by the weight and put whatever you like on the plate or in a takeaway bowl. There was hot and cold food, including soup. They had tables and chairs available to use. A nice warm comfortable place ...

    Don't need any last minute headaches, but of course my car is not cooperating. I was planning to put off my 15,000-mile service until after vacation, but noticed a problem last week and decided to take it in this week (appt on Wed).

    Have started monitoring the long-range weather forecast. Doesn't look good for our arrival in Aucun... 30 to 60% chance of rain ...
