Did you know how bad the earthquake was here on February 22nd 2011? It was really, really bad. The following shameful conversation took place between me and the bus driver at Christchurch airport. Picture the scene, if you will, of me bounding cheerfully onto the bus, grinning happily, pleased to be in a new exciting country:

... shops selling all kinds of things from jewelry to a beach bags to wood carvings and so on. From the village it was only about a 20 min. walk to the ferry where we caught the 4 pm crossing for downtown Auckland. Back in downtown Auckland we did some quick power shopping as the stores close at 6 pm. They have some interesting stores here and prices vary widely.
