... more vivid. We had decided to visit the Shaker Village at Canterbury in deepest New Hampshire. It was highly recommended by the travel guides, offering a rare glimpse into the history and lifestyle of this tiny, former English, religious sect. The shaking comes from their form of worship which involves much singing and dancing about, hence the "outsiders" perception of them shaking. We arrived around midday and took advantage of two guided tours, one ...

... looked decidedly hyperactivity material! Toast and tea consumed, we hit the road, up Route 7, back towards Williamstown, then on to Bennington. Laundry was the order of the day and for those of you who have sampled American laundrettes/laundromats they seem to be a haven for n'er-do-wells and down-and-outs. Yes, I can hear your thoughts!! It was then onto the airbrush tattoo section, where I got a cute little blue elephant on my back. I had a bit of fun with Mum and Dad with that one :). We walked around for a little longer, and then headed home to try our apples. We finished most of them, but man that is a lot of sugar! Food is definitely bigger in America!

Some more reruns later and we decided to hit the hay. Peace out from Rutland, Vermont ...

Three roosters started crowing at around 5am and continued past 6:30am when I gave up tuning them out. One must have a sore throat, because his vocals would cut out in mid crow and come back at the end. Cockadoo....ledoo. He couldn't hit the high note. I met Wayne and Dave, two cyclists from Canada who were doing the Green Mountain Loop route. We stopped on the road ...
