We made it. This place is pretty cool. We only did about a third of what's here and we will have to come back. This gorge has been created over hundreds of years of erosion and is really worth the time. Need to plan for a full to 3/4 day to take all this in.

We woke this morning to a beautiful 58 degree, sunny day and were heading out to Watkins Glen State Park by 7:30. It was a nice 2 mile hike around the gorge. Very few people on the trail that early so it was a nice time to photograph the rock formations, streams, and ...

Next we went up to Germany, meeting up with Courtney, one of Amanda’s friends from high school. Courtney picked us up in her car, and drove us through adorable German towns, with cobblestone streets and churches and castles in any direction we looked. We stayed with Courtney’s boyfriend in Jena (pronounced yennah), went on a hike to where Napoleon once battled in war, drank beer, ate pretzels, BBQ’d sausages in the park, ...
... district of Upstate New York was at all.
After all of that I had an invitation to stay with a brother and sister in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, that night. It was a truly beautiful drive over the mountains and they took me to the home of another family who had visiting sisters there from another part of the state.
So my thanks to Debbie and Tim for the fun night there, and to Bill and his family for hosting the get-together.
