    ... crying infant was directly in FRONT of us. Scratched landing at JFK so that was exciting. Also a bit unusual to leave 85 and sunny in Portland to come to rainy New York City. But if there is any weather this trip we can handle this will be it. No sleep for dad. The red-eye reduction on the camera isn't going to fix this.     ... we wandered the very picturesque boardwalk of Coney Island, much of which has been rebuilt after Hurricane Sandy a few years back. it was really quite hot so before too long we headed for the nearby aquarium. We saw a sea lion show there that was spectacular. headed home about 2 to get ready for the cook out. got to meet about 20 of the Speed's friends, and lots of kids. They all had really interesting jobs ...

    ... apartment opening presents, some fun gifts and some functional gifts were exchanged. City Diner was our place of choice for Christmas lunch, it had become our regular, food was fantastic and we didn't have to wash up.     ... You can also visit the roof, where there are different fantastic views of the city, or you can relax on the chairs up there. The table came in handy for taking photos !

    Being on the 40th floor is marvellous, but when everyone is on the move the lifts can be very busy - " stopping on all floors". It can make for a long wait and a long trip down. Everyone is very friendly though, and chatting and chuckling fill in the time.
