The aim today was to drive to the Green Mountains in Vermont - the **** sat nav we've hired likes to take us on long routes so today's drive was 6 hours long! This included driving the length of Manhattan in rush hour in heavy rain and getting lost in a car park. Luckily ...

... of its facilities, sharing sofa space with an over-friendly boxer dog! Back into the car and down Interstate 91 - a very pleasant drive for possibly our last "leaf peeping". The colours in this part of New Hampshire and Vermont are much more vivid, the leaves still not quite into falling yet.
And finally into tonight's stop-off at Brattleboro (a pronunciation challenge for the SatNav). Our motel looked fine and dandy, but behind its wood-clad facia ...

... watch this event which occurs twice each day. It was quite an amazing thing to watch. I'll bet it is even more spectacular when the spring runoff is at its highest.

After this event we had breakfast and drove towards Woodstock NB. We saw some nice fall colors but it was obvious that the best was over so we’ll keep our fingers crossed that Vermont is still in its prime.
