    ... be rehabilitated? The early cells were only about four feet wide with a single bed. Hardly room to turn around in. These cells were updated later and became larger and a bit more humane. Kingston Penitentiary closed in 2013 and the inmates were relocated to other institutions. I have no idea if the conditions there are now any better.

    Sept. 7th

    The morning was absolutely perfect. Sunny and calm. We went in to Kingston this morning and did a very short impromptu tour. At the dock we were pleasantly surprised to see a multicultural festival occurring. We looked around and treated ourselves to a meal of Pupusas from El Salvador.     Back to good ole Grenadier Island........

    I love this Island. I have fond memories of spending time on this Island with my Mom and Dad.... from fishing off a dock to picking raspberries and black caps to swimming and hiking on the Island - I really enjoyed my time on this Island as a kid. I am glad that Joanne and Fiona are now able to enjoy this beautiful Island with me.
