... Laclede whose landing on the riverside the placename commemorates. Further down the river, where the Arch stands is where Mr Laclede set up the settlement of St Louis.
We walked on to Broadway where we got brekkie. Just as we were about to leave the heavens opened. It was like nothing we'd ever seen before, but apparently they get extremes quite regularly. After the rain had stopped and the thunder moved on we walked to the arch.

... couldn't find out where the security guard had recommended. So Marra googled and we agreed on the Flying Saucer nearby, being 20 minutes walk, it was decided to take the car. Parking was ideally located behind the cardinals stadium, it was much larger up close. The bar & restaurant was big and had loads of old time sports memorabilia. We seated ourselves and ordered up. There were no kids menu, so they had to order off the regular menu. Both me an Andy were indecisive but ...

I had slept this night before my collision on a tent pitched at a 10 degree angle on the beach I was sleeping on firm ground but non the less had the motion of the boat in my head.. maybe brought on by the sound of the waves sloshing up on the shore..
