When we didn't get what we wanted, we wandered to several other stores that our local guide, Gaston, said were good. We entered a small jeweler, Manu Lizarralde, where we bought a raw amethyst necklace. Very unusual. Very pretty. Semi-precious.

... decided to go straight to the BBQ place instead of the hotel. On the way to the BBQ place, we drove by St. Louis University. Thought of you, Diane, as we saw all the signs. Downtown St Louis was under construction and the roads were a mess. Ditzy, our GPS, took us into the city and told us to get off on exit 250 - except exit 250 did not exist! So we turned left, then right and ended up on an old cobblestone road. One choice was to go right- but wait there is a railroad bridge with a 10' 3" clearing there. Can't go right.
