Only visited 3 wineries today. I'm done with that for a while! Scott Harvey winery was fun. Good wines and food. Liked to talk to Scott about his business. It really was a bittersweet time without mom. Missed her presence so. But I have to face these " first" times where I'm ...

... had eaten Alanna, one of the owners, took us into the Vineyard at the top of the hill. She brought with her some of the new C******nay and some wine glasses and we gathered around and toasted mom. It was really quite nice. As it happens we passed Mark Twain's cottage on the way to the fair. A storm is forecast today with heavy snow warnings at altitude so hiking wasn't a good idea today. We felt a bit underdressed ...

... On the way back we stopped off at Murphy which is a very quaint old gold mining town which is nicely preserved. There are 22 wineries that each have a tasting room in separate old building on the Main Street so it's a whole street of wine tasting boutiques. We were after a cup of tea which we found in a tempting cupcake shop. All the places looked worth exploring with lots of interesting shops which unfortunately we're just ...

... town of San Andreas, which is famous for the fault line where two tectonic plates meet and causes a lot of the earthquakes. The line was not visible from ground level in San Andreas, so we opted not to go there. There were a few other towns we stopped by for a short time, but they didn't exactly have an old town center. They just had a strip of old shops. Those towns were called Fair Oaks, Roseville and Elk ...
