We arrived in New York yesterday afternoon after a two hour taxi ride to our hotel,which is located one block from Times Square,and minutes from Central Park.we checked into out hotel room which is just bigger than the double bed.the roof in the bath room is mouldy and leaking and looks like wee seeping through.on the bright side the bed is super comfy and Hugh Jackman is in a theatre stage show opposite our hotel,we have seen him twice out the front which is pretty cool. ...
A gorgeous day on Sunday allowed us to get out to the Morgan Library and Museum and do some walking along Madison Avenue.
The library is a fantastic mix of new and old. We experienced the new first, sitting for lunch in the reflections of light gallery. A fantastic changing display. The display changes as the sun moves and the display acts as a calendar, complex, but still a calendar. We sat for an hour or so and watched the light change as different panels ...
... park again and admired the botanical gardens, public library and Boston museum from the outside. Even the buildings were impressive enough! Next stop was Dumbo and the Brooklyn bridge, Brooklyn bridge park and the Brooklyn promenade. All super pretty areas, with heaps of awesome street art in Dumbo, and amazing views of Manhattan from the park and promenade. Today we took a 'City Highlights' cruise and took in NYC's features from the first deck of a very crowded cruise ship. As is our custom (probably my custom I guess - my toast always lands butter side down) we chose our side of the boat which ended up being the wrong side for all the interesting tidbits thrown at us by our guide. Couldn't help but wonder about the history of all the buildings on the left side of the river.... ...
