Still hanging lose

I am just hanging loose waiting to go home so I guess it is time for some reflection.

Misconceptions -
Mexico, Central and Southern America are dangerous places.
They are no more dangerous than most other places, certainly big cities like London, New York or Rome.
That is not to say they are completely safe, but there are thousands of young and old travellers visiting ...

... jewellery, mulled wine - you name it, its got it. I split from the group and buy some funky t shirts which you can practically design yourself, I stroll along the bustling streets where street performers compete for space with the tourists and the markets. Drinking mulled wine on this argentian winter's afternoon - this is perfect.

Tangoin' with a legend...

That evening we take our seats in the famous Cafe Tortoni where we are sat at little round ...

Friday- Day 3

... omelette, served on a paper try, no serviceware. It tasted OK but was prolly like 6 eggs*. wandered through Palermo, which is supposed the ´hip´part of town. It was nice although it felt like it had ´flipped´once towards yuppie gentrification of a hip neighborhood (see 18th st in the Mission): cool boutiques, lots of bars and restaurants, but overall just OK. Alot of people stay here instead of San Telmo where I am now, and maybe it would be cool to dig in a ...

... few minutes of questioning in Spanish, someone explained was able to explain in English for us. We found out that the season passes were valid but they are never for sale, and that there was no way that we should have them. Anyway it wasn't too much of a problem they just needed to get our names, where we were from and how much we paid and then we could go see the game. The game was awesome, people singing band ...

Things I May or May Not Miss About Buenos Aires

... 600-- there may be 600 in 20 blocks. There is no official count, but a classmate 'guesstimated' that there were 600 in Buenos Aires. Yea, we will not let her forget that one. These kiosks are colorful and just interesting. 11) Neighbor who must teach tango lessons. How else could you explain the blaring Argentine music at the oddest hours of the day? 12) Tiny Elevators. Think Europe. Yep, two doors, you close them ...

Day 92 - Buenos Aires

... but it is worth asking around. Where we got our tent it was slightly cheaper than elsewhere we looked and also got a 10% discount voucher from our hostel. The hostel is OK, a good social place to meet up with people, there is a big deck on the roof where they do BBQ's etc.. and a couple of nights I was sitting up there and others come along and ask you to join them. Like anywhere some of the staff were a bit rubbish but then some so much ...

Buenos Aires.... the city that never sleeps...

... we went to this "hidden" bar called The Red Door. It is hidden because there is no signage outside advertising what it is. The only thing you see is a big red door and the only way to enter is to buzz the doorbell and someone upstairs buzzes you in... very cool =) Therefore, the only way you would know about it is through word of mouth. Martin and Bruno are both outstanding guys- super nice and fun to be around. Martin wanted to try a shot of their house-made "chili ...

... away. We make our way over and gather that there is some kind of African festival. How cool is this? Someone walks up to Harvey and hands him a paper about the African diaspora and three condom packets. I don't know what he does with these, but the next time I look they are not in his hand. We are standing in front of an ice cream store and check out if they have sorbets, which they do. We sit on the bench in front of the store ...

... hotel, the Frossard, is a modest elderly four-floor building in classic Parisian style. On the ground floor is a diminutive lift, similar to the one we used in Paris last year. We pack it with our luggage and walk up one floor to the reception. We are expected, and in spite of the early hour, are assigned rooms right away.
