Had a big sleep. Was going to do a short walk but when we were about to start the rain came pouring in. Arun and I decided to stay at the hostel while Pete went around Rydal and Grasmere. Stratford-upon-Avon and the Lakes
Today was mainly a day for travelling. Breakfast again from the supermarket next to the hostel. Left relatively early for Stratford-upon-Avon. Saw Shakespeare's old family home, the site of his marital home and his grave (inside the local Holy Trinity Church). Morning of NY
... was 5:45 a.m. We had a knock at the door at 5:40, not quite ready had a nervous rush on, despite a calm morning. I was greeted by a lady claiming to be the taxi driver. All seemed nice at first, but after precisely 16 seconds her persona changed to very frustrated and asked, "what time is the flight?" Of course I had no idea so asked Charlotte..."10:30". ... The only disappointment for me was the fact that I noticed a large amount of the products on sale were not necessarily sourced locally and perhaps for example the jams and chutneys or chocolates and snacks on offer could have been supplied from businesses a little more Cumbrian .

One last spin in the lakes
... Campbell set the world water speed record at about 141 mph. His son, Donald, later set consecutive records in the 50's and 60's, and at one point, actually held the land and water speed records at the same time. The last time he broke the record he hit about 320 mph, piloting the Bluebird K7, after which he lost control, crashed, and died instantly. So, I guess he didn't get to celebrate that one.
