... facilities in much need of refurbishment. We had a water-side seat at the Marina Restaurant, a bar/diner by the Connecticut River. It was fascinating to watch Americans on a Saturday night out, drinking cocktails while watching college football and Major League baseball on two tvs at the same time. We ate well and didn't allow the noise levels (worse than a school canteen) to disrupt our meal.
An early start tomorrow as we move to Boston, on Columbus Day too!

Oct. 7th

We were up early because there was still one thing we wanted to see before we moved on. They call it the "tidal bore" and it occurs during the incoming tide on the rivers flowing into the Bay of Fundy. As I mentioned earlier the Bay of Fundy rises about 1 foot every 10 minutes, during the incoming tide, so there is a tremendous amount of water flowing into the bay. The rivers are still flowing ...

... The road winds through forested hills and the Fall foliage was just beginning to show its mettle. There are scenic lookouts at various spots and we sampled the Hairpin Turn and climbed to Whitcomb Summit (in the car, I might add). Then back into North Adams before climbing up to the highest point in Massachusets, Mt Greylock (almost 4000 ft up), with views ...

... the lobby, motorcycle parked under security camera out front. Went to the gourmet grocery store next door. Had crusty bread, crab salad, and a huge can of Foster's beer for dinner. Nice hot shower, and I am a new woman.

475 miles today, easy miles.

Onward to mi casa tomorrow, hopefully. I haven't checked the weather forecast yet - still working on that can of Foster's!

... But, we survived!

Got to very picturesque Bennington, VT at about 1545 hours. Sunny and nice out. Beautiful day all around. Had about 2 seconds worth of sprinkles near Rochester, NY, but that was it!

Off to Ramunto's Pizza and Pub for an early dinner, since we did not stop for lunch.

547 miles for me today, on about 2 hours of sleep. Road weary for sure!
