... but slow as we stuck to the speed limit. With cruise control the driving couldn't be easier, and the beautiful picturesque farmland of Vermont's lower valleys made it a pleasant drive. Drove to FDR's home, museum and Presidential library. Along the way saw Bannerman's Castle. He was a munitions dealer in the 1940's. Drove through Sleep Hollow, NY but no Ickabod.
The FDR estate was beautiful just undergoing a 35 Million dollar renovation last year. His house is well preserved and the museum is full of artifacts. We didn't get to see Val-Kill or top cottage, two other ...

... two young sons. They were having a giod time - and despite their big packs, the kids were tired but smiling. Then we ran into a guy that offered to lend us his car, to drive to town and buy food. We said thank you for the offer, but did not feel right borrowing his car. He is out for the night also - looks like everyone we passed will be staying at the last shelter - 2 miles back. A beautiful hike to the road awaited us, the path was smooth and then....Neon's mom ...

... a groundhog. Unfortunately, there were also a lot of dead animals.

We found a Ramada Inn just off the interstate at Poughkeepsie. Tomorrow, we plan to do I 84 to Scranton which was actually today's final destination. Then we turn south on I 81 to Winchester. If we make good time, we will escape from the highway to try our luck on the back roads again.

5 am wake-up so I am off to bed now.
