... day, we could see nothing from our dorm window but rain and thick white fog- disaster!! terrible timing as usual, but we made the most of an extra half an hour in bed while we waited for the fog to lift. ... 1,056,006 roof tiles (approximately 1.62ha!) were all fitted onto huge slabs on the ground and hoisted into place. They are triple glazed and are thus self-cleaning – the dirt simply washes off in the rain. ... Kohle reinkam. Hier gab es zumindest mal einen kleinen Hoffnungsschimmer, auf den legendären 21. Januar, ein Tag an dem aber mal alles schiefging, was schiefgehen konnte kam der Australia Day und hat das zumindest teilweise wieder aufgewogen. NZ ist eine eigene Kategorie und fällt hier nicht rein, wäre man kleinlich könnte man sagen, dass auf die Nordinsel die Südinsel folgte.
Man mag das alles als Miesepeterei abtun und ich kann dem nicht ...

... down past the three sisters and through the valley and up the other side. Because it had been raining some the waterfalls looked great but it was very humid walking through the forest. As you look across the valley there is a blue haze everywhere (how the mountains get their name) this is apparently due to the Eucalyptus trees ...

... on guard as I walked through the dense woodland and the bushes which brush at ankle level were disconcerting to say the least! It was much cloudier during my time at the Blue Mountains as opposed to sunny Sydney and apparently this is fairly typical given the inland, mountainous location. I was quite welcoming of the cooler weather though as I knew I would be headed back to the heat of Sydney in only a few days. Apparently it just gets warmer throughout February as well! ...
