... we hadn't experienced before we weren't sure about the risks in walking around the city. Nevertheless, after a read of the guidebook we stepped out into the slight unknown and walked across the city to the bus station.
The city seems almost as friendly as Siyabuswa! The people who are living a more chilled life are very happy to talk to you, and although it is definitely worth being more careful here it seems relatively OK.

What a Bafana disaster
... the ground. Those blasted things are so noisy, walking into any ground now you pass dozens of people selling earplugs. I mean, really! Earplugs needed for a football match?!? Something's seriously wrong there.
Anyhow, I was pretty confident of success as there had been loads of people selling tickets before the England vs USA game, and I thought that we'd struck gold when a Uruguayan came up to me and whispered: "Tickets?"

City Tour and Soweto
... and told me that if I was to go to the stadium I would need ear-plugs because it is incredibly loud. There is the standard one but actually has the “hardcore supporter” one.
