6-22-14 – Sunday

After doing early morning laundry while the grandsons slept, we packed up camp and headed north along the Lake Michigan eastern coast. We heard about a house made out of 60,000 bottles on the road ahead and decided we needed to detour shortly and visit this oddity at Kaleva, MI, a quaint little town with lots of history.

Our destination for the day was Empire, MI, a short 87 mile trip and The Indigo Bluffs ...

... with all the changes made. The seating area is twice as large as before and the whole thing just looks so much better. Every time we come back here we are taken back by how beautiful this part of the word is. We have posted pictures of the new look Lot 11, so we can share with all our friends this beautiful place.

OHHH! I’m pleasantly surprised; the inside is nothing like the outside. There are no dishes in the sink. Everything is immaculate, and smells fresh and clean! Cute little figurines are neatly organized on shelves and small tabletops in the living room. The smooth, brown leather furniture looks inviting. However, the house feels empty ...

Sleeping Bear Dune is 450' top to bottom!

... were warned not to attempt the hike to the water and back up the sand dunes, we now understand why. Documents say it is a steep 450 foot drop; it looks more like 4,500 foot drop. From the lookout area on top of the Dunes, people on the shore below look like ants.

We could spend weeks in this area, beautiful hikes and so much to take in. I am sure we will return!

Today, the 12th, we toured on up the western peninsula shore line of Lake Michigan ...
