... Tim discovered masses of Sea lions who live on pontoons. They took over a dock in 1989 after an earthquake and have stayed. They can have up to 700 at a time. They go out into the bay to get food and are protected under Law. The Pier 39 staff hose the pontoons down as often as possible to stop the smells.
