    ... before they could take off. A few min delay slowly turned into a 3.5 hr delay. Turns out they needed a new cockpit door. It was a race against the clock as the plane had to leave the gate at 1am or the pilots would hit their max flying time. 1am came and went- and no door was replaced. We ran off the plane trying to find agents to help rebook and find us a hotel but no one was to be found as their was an alleged holiday party. We ...

    ... was not particularly difficult. There were difficult moments, for sure, but it was not logistically difficult to plan and make travel arrangements. All we needed was a "to do" list and an Internet connection. And away we went. We owe much to Kayak.com, Airbnb.com, Hotels.com and Tripadvisor.com. They were our go-to websites. I also gleaned a lot of tips from other RTW (round the world) traveling families. Our hats off to those who went before us.

    Another early morning! Up at 5.30, ready to be picked up at 7.00. We went down to have breakfast at the place under the hotel - and it had an A rating! We had opted to take a private car to the airport - at the concierge's suggestion. It was certainly easier than the train option, and at $88, only ended up costing an extra $30 odd. It was a 2015 new four-wheel drive Suburban, so of course Ron enjoyed that, and the guy was really nice. ...
