... nearly 4 hours on "The Rock"

After that we walked over to the famous cable car where all the tourists line up and we waited about 90 minutes before we finally got on one. It was fun though hanging off the steps of the car.

We then found an el cheapo Vietnamese restaurant called Tu Lan which was the cheapest dinner we've had so far but the food was excellent, a great find. This was also just across the road from another ...

It was a fabulous area to explore and I enjoyed it much more than Union Square, with all it's upmarket/designer label shopping precincts. So, back to the fog. They had the Camry but wanted to switch cars because they didn't think there was enough room for the 4 of us (1 in a walking cast) in the Mustang Convertible. I gave them the Camry keys, told them where the car was and said to leave my keys with the box office after they switched. The 4 of us went in to the theater and sat down just in time.

... the place to eat. We drove out of the Big Sur via Carmel and Monterey. Carmel was tiny but cute, full of boutiques and art galleries and lovely looking houses. Monterey is a lot bigger and touristy, made famous by its old Cannery Row which John Steinbeck wrote his famous but unoriginally titled novel 'Cannery Row'. In all seriousness, Steinbeck was a great author so in honour of being in his territory, we downloaded 'Of Mice and Men' on the kindle and we're reading ...
