      ... Grand Canyon was fantastic, riding in a helicopter was so much fun, George and I sat on the front. We did the skywalk which is a glass walk over the canyon, Caroline spent most of the time creeping around the edge. We went out for a posh meal that night with a wine tower, and when you ordered a bottle of wine a half naked lady zoomed up the tower on a wire to collect it. Had another amazing steak.

      ... go on. I have encountered some of the most awe inspiring scenery I have seen anywhere on earth and experienced a lively cultural scene with music, theatre, dance and art all thriving. I have had some fabulous food (it isn't all giant burgers and fries) and had some memorable conversations on all manner of things. I have driven 900 miles down the coasts of Washington, Oregon and California and loved every minute of it. And I will be back!

      ... a hot pastrami sandwich which came with a pickle, some pickled chilies and a little bowl of coleslaw. Marie had a Hearst beefburger which came with a pickle and corn chips.

      ... her not far from where we were staying for a drink of bubbles and a bite to eat. Nice to meet one of their American friends who would be one of Jamie's bridesmaids. We said our goodbyes then I was encouraged to walk back the 20 mins or so up to our abode.
      The fog was freezing, so I was very glad to get home
