Well, it's been awhile. But it looks like this is the end of the road for our travels. Liz and I have been home for a week now, and are both glad to be home and miss traveling at the same time. Our last two weeks finished up wonderfully and were more than we could have ever asked for. They were a good change from the usual pace of our hectic traveling, and a great way to end up. After we left you in Banos, we headed to the Black Sheep Inn in Chiguchilan, one of the top ten eco-lodges in the w...
Fort Collins, Colorado, United States liz_and_achai... the breakfasts with pancakes or waffles with maple syrup and bacon or sausage. But I ate up all my dinner and hardly had room for pie!
Then, after dinner was the traditional family watching of a game of Hand Egg http://www.saasta.fi/saasta/wp-content/ uploads/2009/01/handegg.jpg I seem to have educated quite a few people so far on my journey of the correct ...
Today was a very rainy day, grey and damp, much like home. So we set out to the Corning Museum of Glass. It was a pretty cool place, lots of unusual glass sculptures and various artwork. There was lots of history stuff too, as well as fun educational things (I liked looking ...
Elmira, New York, United States amyusa09... really pretty. On the way back round the lake we stopped for ice cream. I had Butter Pecan (flavour I’ve not tried before), it was yummy but huge and it defeated me. I don’t think I’ve ever actually wasted ice cream before, it was heartbreaking.
Watched 28 Days Later, so now the British education extends to tea, custard and films!
... a 4 hour drive compared to our 45 mins.
Had a fun evening, went out for dinner and ended up having a steak in Ruby Tuesdays, where I also had my first alcoholic drink in the USA. I got ID’d! Picked up some beers on the way back and spent the rest of the night working through them. Good fun all round!
Cable guy due between 1 and 3 today so not made too many plans, naturally he turned up at 11am while I was in the shower. Happily he had stuff to do that didn't involve access to the bathroom until after I’d finished. Then we celebrated the return of the internet all afternoon, I managed to start this blog (hopefully I’ll keep it up for a while at least) and played some ...
Elmira, New York, United States amyusa09... City with me sometime next week but sadly I don't think it’s going to happen. Had burgers for dinner (at Five Guys, Burgers and Fries) and then popped into Barnes and Noble to use their free wi-fi, still no internet at home till tomorrow. Was pretty late when we left so had a snack when we got in and a little more TV. It’s such a relief to have real tea, wasn’t sure how I was going to cope!
Elmira, New York, United States amyusa09... section, complete with marmite, Heinz, Cadbury and Birds custard! Couldn’t resist a couple of pictures, it was so funny. Came back and made a proper American sandwich with 3 layers of meat and 4 layers of cheese. All this took most of the day so we spent the evening watching DVD’s (Battlestar Galactica) and chilling out.
Elmira, New York, United States amyusa09Very early start, quick cup of tea and shower then off to the airport. Check in and time for my last cup of tea in England and a croissant to share. A very brave goodbye with Kate and then off through security, complete with a last minute list of things to pick up in the airport shops (Kate is very good at organising me with lists!).
Flight was fine, I ended up sitting next ...
Just a short note, for work I travelled to Elmira Ny in Oct 2009. It was a fun week, Elmira is a small city on the Southern Tier of NY.
It is quite a pleasant drive from Toronto to Elmira. From Toronto down to Niagara and across the Lewiston Bridge. There is often a lne up, but Monday morning when I got there, there was nary a car on the bridge. Customs looked bored and passed me through. From there down through Buffalo and ...
